I work with an incredible group of diverse pre-kindergarten students. Most of the students come from low income families, so educational materials are hard to come by.
Early childhood grades have always been something that is very near and dear to my heart.
There are so many different cultures and personalities, but the one thing that my students all have in common is that they all love to learn and work together as a classroom community. They each have a lot to offer and share.
My Project
The gingerbread boy is probably my class's favorite story of all time. We've been reading and rereading this book throughout the school year and my kids are up for a new challenge. I found the perfect for building kit that includes a story card that presents a dilemma for kids to solve.
Children have to plan, create and test solutions to get the Gingerbread Man across a river!
With this toy, I will be able to help my students to develop skills in problem solving, the design process, test out buoyancy (sink or float) and other cause and effect factors.
We also requested for magnets and another stem building kit to promote a hands on learning activity that sparks creativity and innovation, enhance fine motor skills and independence.
