Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
As a teacher in a low-income/high poverty school, my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. A majority of my students are English Language Learners. Despite the many challenges they face, I am looking to provide them with the tools they need to be successful in and outside of the classroom.
My students are eager and passionate to learn and grow.
I provide a safe learning environment for my students in the classroom. 75% of our students come from a low-income family. They are provided with free breakfast and lunch. While they are in my classroom, I want to ensure they will receive the best possible learning experience.
My Project
The use of whiteboards will be a daily activity in my classroom, especially in math. My students will use these for whole class problem solving. The whiteboards will allow me to see exactly what they are doing, as well as provide an easy place for them to show and share their work. Students will all be engaged and I will easily be able monitor student progress, strengths and challenges. Using whiteboards instead of paper will make our class more cost effect and eco friendly. In conclusion, I believe these boards will be an asset to the learning process and help create a more effective lesson.
