Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are part of a wonderful community of diverse learners in a Title I school in Austin, Texas. They come from families of resilient and hard-working parents who want to see their children succeed. Despite poor nutrition and any other emotional and economic needs, my students are willing to give their best and strive to improve daily. At the end of the day, they usually tell me their learning goals for the next day. Every morning you can feel their excitement and willingness to work hard. Although each student wants to improve and succeed in school, they have increasingly more roadblocks than any other average student. About 100% of my students receive free lunch and are English language learners. So for many, in addition to having the financial barrier, language also becomes a barrier.
My Project
Each child in my classroom is curious and absolutely loves to learn and explore! I incorporate different learning strategies, group work, flexible seating and learning options to ensure that each student's needs are met and that they are truly engaged in learning but I have students with diverse math skills! Having these iPads would truly benefit my students by allowing them to engage hands-on in learning, stay focused, connect with the world and allow them to use their imagination and creativity on a daily basis.
These iPads will be part of the learning centers in an effort to motivate and engaged my students.
The two iPad apps that I am requesting will allow my students to have access to explore, ask questions, research, and be creative in Math and also developing problem-solving skills. My students will be very motivated and curious if I incorporate iPads into their daily work centers. They will be more willing to explore and learn!
