This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Like most middle school students my students would prefer to socialize with their peers. I would like to do more collaborative, interactive lessons and activities. I teach keyboarding and keyboarding applications to 6th, 7th and 8th grade students. Occasionally we step away from the computer and sit at a round table to complete tasks on the iPad or just use plain paper and pencil. This allows the students to be creative, problem solve by brainstorming and collaborate with their peers.
My Project
Thinking critically is a skill set that if practiced can be an invaluable tool for lifelong learners. My students could program these bolts while learning to problem solving, a lifelong learner resource.
We will use the bolts to further apply the student’s coding skills once they successfully set up, test and program the bolts.
This will build their confidence and perhaps spark their interest in pursuing a career in the Computer Science field. The Computer Science field is growing and can lead to a better quality of life with unlimited possibilities. Success breeds success. You can make a difference in a child’s hopes and aspirations.
