Do you know that your intelligence and character can be developed with hard work and dedication? Ask one of our scholars and they will not only tell you that, yes, your intelligence can and will develop with hard work, but they will also teach you how.
Clever, curious, and confident, our scholars work enthusiastically everyday to develop a growth mindset in which they know no one is born intelligent; intelligence comes with hard work and dedication.
As we say in the classroom, we, "Work Hard. Play Hard."
Providing rigorous academics and social emotional development, our school serves scholars in grades K-4 from urban, low-income communities where 98% of them receive free or reduced price lunch.
Our school's mission is to get our scholars to and through college by explicitly teaching them not only the academic skills, but also the character skills necessary to succeed in life. With scholars always at the forefront of our minds, we relentlessly develop lessons, seek hands on materials that will bring learning to life, and hold a figurative mirror up so our scholars see their best selves.
We are teaching our kindergarten students how to be independent learners and thinkers. While teaching them to be intrinsically motivated, we also need to meet them where they are with extrinsic prizes to help motivate them.
Children, just like adults, respond to both intrinsic and extrinsic motivators.
With your donation, we will be able to celebrate each student’s work and dedication to achieve their goals with a tangible prize.
Fidget spinners, emoji faces, and sticky hands will remind them of the work they did to achieve the trinket. When students play with these toys, they will serve as a constant reminder to students to grow their brains big, big, big, to achieve all goals.
