Words cannot describe how excited I am to have my first classroom! Due to the fact this is my first year teaching, I am trying to grow and expand my resources!
Our students come from a variety of different economic backgrounds with 100% of students receiving free breakfast and lunch.
My school is also one of the most ethnically diverse schools in the city, where students speak a multitude of languages. As diverse as our students are economically and culturally, they are diverse in their academics. Every day, I make sure to welcome my students with a smile on my face and in return, they exchange a smile back, ready to learn and succeed. Despite many hardships my students may face, they are eager and put in their best effort. They know that our classroom is never about a perfect outcome; it is instead about the risks and effort put forth. My students certainly deserve a successful and engaging classroom where they can become lifelong learners.
My Project
My students in our fourth grade classroom are hoping to receive paper. The kind of paper we are hoping to get in our classroom is printing paper and notebook paper. This will help with our note taking and resources which students will keep in their binders. In addition, we are also hoping for prizes in our prize bucket. Every Friday students write letters home about their week at school and during this time is an opportunity for students to trade tickets which they earned for their hard work during the week for prizes. Prizes the students showed intrest for were candy, bracelets, and fun little toys. Prizes are used in our classroom for positive reinforcement. Our classroom is also hoping to gain a stool for our classroom for a place to sit near the classroom Elmo. The stool will help by allowing students to sit and see teacher models.
