Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students walk into the school eager to learn everyday. They are strong, hard working students who deserve nothing but the best. Yet, they are at a disadvantage. Not because they do not think the way others do, but because of the resources they lack at home.
My students are 80% free and reduced lunch.
Many of them need basic supplies. Their parents don't have the luxury to be able to buy school supplies instead they are working 2 jobs just trying to pay rent and put food on the table. Please help me give my students everything they need to make their school home comfortable, loving, and encouraging!
My Project
If students have an incentive they are more likely to push themselves and work hard. Being a teacher that is health and utility oriented, I wanted to find prizes that would not only be interesting to a student but be helpful.
These incentives (reusable water bottles, stress squishes, and sunglasses) are objects that not all my student own but are very interested in having.
Reusable water bottles are so beneficial for the students to have to improve their concentration and health. Sunglasses although not a necessity are beneficial to students eye health and it helps that students will think they are cool.
These incentives will be given bimonthly to students reaching reading goals!
