Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach at a Title I school in East San Jose. A majority of my students are first-generation Americans with hardworking immigrant parents. Seventy percent of the students at my school are receiving free or reduced-priced lunch.
I teach a wonderful group of Kindergarten students.
My students are hard working and enthusiastic learners. They are easily motivated and enjoy attending school every day. They are always excited to try and learn new concepts. My students inspire me every day to be a better teacher.
My Project
A little praise goes a long way, and I would prizes such as stress balls, emoji key chains and squishies to reward my awesome students for their hard work. Kindergarten is the first schooling experience for many of my students, and there are many milestones and achievements to celebrate through out the year. Every week, students are given raffle tickets when they are caught being safe, responsible and respectful. Students are encouraged to get as many tickets as possible. On Fridays, I pick five tickets, and these students get to choose a prize from the prize box. Students also get a prize for every 5 books they read in class. This has motivate my student to read everyday. Sadly, our prize box has been diminishing.
My students need new prizes that will motivate and encourage them to do their best work.
It will acknowledge and celebrate all of their hard work throughout the school year. I can already see the smiles on my students faces. Thank you so much for rewarding my students for them hard work.
