My school is a K-6, Title I elementary school located in Westville, New Jersey. We are a school that prides ourselves in being ready, respectful and responsible in and out of the classroom.
I currently teach 19 eager second graders.
These students are from all different backgrounds. Some come to school from happy, well-rounded families who show them love and affection every day. Others come from broken families where they are lucky if they even get to talk to mom or dad about their day, because mom or dad is sleeping from working the overnight shift. Most of my students come from a low income family. Many of my students qualify for free lunch. Despite these challenges, my students work hard every day and are willing to take on a challenge. My goal is to give my students an opportunity to learn, grow and thrive.
My students are creative, outgoing and hardworking. They are willing to explore and test to figure out problems. My students thrive on positive attention and being successful. They are not afraid to make mistakes and challenge themselves.
My Project
Concentrating during school can be difficult. That is why my students need privacy folders to help them focus on their independent work and the assessments that they take in class.
During assessments, silent reading, and independent writing time the students are required to work independently and these privacy folders will help them concentrate and focus on their work.
These folders will also help the students to stay on task with their peers around them. It can be tempting to become distracted with friends around but the privacy folders are a physical reminder to stay focused on their work. The folders will also help with establishing a work-space and taking ownership of their own space.
