Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My darling students come from different walks of life and bring their backgrounds into our classroom community. Some have heavy family involvement, some are foster children, and some are in between. They differ in socioeconomic and home settings, however they all express a passion to succeed and work for their goals. They are motivated and eager to learn. I love their spirit and grit. I am determined to provide a space where no matter what, they feel safe and have options to learn based on their individual needs.
My Project
My students sit in table groups in order to encourage collaboration and social skills. However, this can provide distractions and the temptation to glance at a neighbor or their work during assessments. Even during some of our daily assignments, I know some of my students would benefit from a privacy partition in order to help them concentrate on work.
I feel that it is my responsibility, as their teacher, to do anything and everything I can to help them be successful learners.
My students are very hard workers, and without a doubt these partitions would provide their own work area to help them get into the "zone".
I also want to help them get ready for (DUN DUN DUN) state testing in the Spring. Soon, we will start practicing some of the mock state tests and the privacy partitions will definitely encourage students to take the practice exams and eventually, the real ones, seriously.
