My Students

Art experiences and exploration drive creativity and a determination to learn more and try new things. Our elementary art students are thriving using a growth mindset approach to creating.

Students come from diverse backgrounds, some with very limited experiences and resources.

Students light up at the opportunity to try new art supplies. The art room is a safe place for them to explore and try new things as they learn more about processes, art media, world cultures, artists and themselves.

My Project

Art students love to make art and try new things using new materials.

Lessons that help them explore and take risks are exciting and build confidence and pride.

Gelli plates offer a variety of possibilities for printmaking. Students will be able to paint, stencil, collage, layer, found object printing and offer innovative exploration by the students. Their experience with printmaking so far has been with styrofoam plates and basic rubber stamps. Gelli plates are durable and reusable and will last many years in the art classroom providing creative printmaking opportunities for hundreds of students. They will not only teach students about the printing process, but allow opportunity to integrate multiple art making processes at the same time: color, line, texture, space, collage, the list goes on and on.

It will be exciting to have the students invent new ways to print using the plates; and to share their results with the community at large.
