Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students are unique to the New Mexico population. They enter my school by choosing to enter our public lottery system and then go for it. We are asking for printmaking tools, brayers, print blocks, and ink to help us go from drypoint to linocut easily. As one student said, "Our school gives space to the freaks, geeks, and dweebs that feel othered elsewhere." My students come from at-risk populations with over 75% in the free or reduced lunch program. I love that my students don't let economic adversity keep them from exploring their dreams and passions. The materials you help supply my class with help them learn new technical, professional, and creative skills that they can use for the rest of their lives.
