Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My students are 99% minority individuals who have not been given the opportunity to be exposed to the arts in a meaningful way. My students are eager to learn about the arts and have shown excitement when exposed to new techniques and materials.

My students, in general, do not have nice living environments, so I want to give them an art department that not only reflects the wide range of arts that we will explore throughout the years but also contains a studio-like classroom filled with new materials and ideas to explore.

My students are creative and excited to work. I want to give them every opportunity to brainstorm without worrying about supplies and where they may come from.

My Project

As an Art Teacher I want my students to be able to have many choices. With a printer in my classroom I will be able to give them the opportunity to print images to use as a references in drawing, sculpture and almost all projects we do. Being able to have an individual reference that the student can manipulate and make his/her own will help achieve State and National Art Standards. A printer will make my underprivileged students lives more complete and allow them to reach the level that others may already have achieved based on their socio economic background. This technology will be a great blessing to all of us.
