Teaching just gets better and better each year! I teach fifth grade science and my students are engaged! They love science and are chomping at the bit to see what they are going to learn next. This energy compels me to constantly evaluate what can be done better in my classroom. I am looking for any new way to present science to draw in each and every student I see.
Students around the school are bubbling with excitement to get to fifth grade and experience the rich world of science in my classroom!
From the first day, we are seeking to gain an understanding of the world around us, all through the lens of science. Questions abound, and we help any way we can to answer them and continually pique their interest.
Our school is in a rural area of Mississippi, with many students lacking real-world experiences and exposure to technology that are necessary in today's tech-driven world. This does not hinder our students from being curious about the world outside of their small communities. I have many bright students with even brighter futures!
My Project
In fifth grade we are learning about how 3d printing is used for so many different career fields. We are also looking at how to solve everyday problems through CAD.
By using programs like TinkerCAD, my students design and model projects that we get to print on our 3Dprinter!
This process is tedious at first because the learning curve is high, but when students begin to catch on, I get very excited. Some of my students have created some pretty awesome projects.
We also get to explore the world of 3D design through finding projects others have designed and seeing how they print. Learning how things can be printed in place that have hinges and articulation is quite surprising for them and for me.
This project keeps us going by allowing us to print all of our projects and helps us explore new and exciting things with 3D printing.
