My students need the Speedball Printers Press, Blick E-Z Cut Classroom Kit, American Easel Wood Printing Blocks, and the Speedball Printmaking Paper in order to experience a fully functional hands-on printmaking class.
"Wow, that's so neat!" Were the words I heard several students exclaim as we created various pieces of art at the beginning of the year. The excitement of my thirty-six sixth graders could be easily read. The moment was priceless. This was the reaction from many of the groupings that I have had this year, due to being a new art teacher at the school. The transition for the students, staff, and I has been difficult. The previous art teacher was there for eight years and replacing her has not been easy.
Our school is a low socioeconomic school with nearly 600 students, grades 6-8.
I rotate through nearly all of the students in school throughout the year. I strive to provide a well-rounded, and safe learning environment. A constant goal of mine is to expose the students to college level Fine Art projects to prepare them for the next level of Art Education in their lives. This allows for my students to be successful in high school, college, and beyond.
My Project
I will be teaching a printmaking class this upcoming year. This is the first time a class like this has been taught at the school. I want to be able to provide my students a true printmaking class. This would be a completely immersive hands-on printmaking experience. These students will never get to experience this type of class again. This will be a wonderful experience for my students and a great experience for the school.
My students need the Speedball Printers Press, Blick E-Z Cut Classroom Kit, American Easel Wood Printing Blocks, and the Speedball Printmaking Paper in order to explore their abilities in printmaking and various printmaking techniques.
These are essential tools in printmaking and will provide my students with true printmaking class. We have explored the processes before, but we were never really able to dive into printmaking as a whole class. We always had to rotate through each section due to a lack of supplies. These items will allow the students to learn as a whole class. Each student will be able to participate and create.
My students will use these wonderful items to make prints, stamps, and wonderful artwork throughout the class. They will be able to explore the full spectrum of printmaking, different techniques, and create wonderful art through this process. These items will allow my students to experience a real printmaking class and be true to college preparation.
