My students need learning materials that are appealing to them! Printing and technology tend to be challenging (especially in the winter months) in rural Alaska. I would like to make printing seamless!
I will be entering my first year teaching this Fall, in a rural Alaskan village. My students are a driven, passionate, and highly intelligent group of 4th graders that have limited access to classroom resources. I would like to enhance their learning experiences through projects funded by YOU! Through these materials, I plan to expand my students' world view, while also encouraging them to celebrate and appreciate their own culture. Chevak residents identify as Cup'ik, a rich culture that primarily practices subsistence living - contributing to my students' desire for hands-on learning and culturally relevant content.
My Project
I would like to make printing learning materials a seamless process by housing my own printer and ink in my classroom! Printing services are available in our school, but they are in high demand and resources are not always readily available due to shipping in bush Alaska. If I have these materials in my own classroom, I will be able to provide printed materials immediately. I specifically am asking for a colored printer/colored ink so that I have the ability to provide vibrant learning materials - making content easier for students to retain and creating a colorful learning environment.
