My students are a group of young scholars full of energy and ambition. They are eager to learn and ready to take on any challenge that the world will throw at them. They are girls and boys that simply need access to resources that will help to stimulate their creative minds.
These students come from hard-working families and still find the ability to balance the the rigors of academic work while handling the challenges of living in a community plagued by the ills of poverty.
Notwithstanding the issues these students face on a daily basis, they have goals, drive, and most importantly, a thirst for knowledge. They possess great aspirations and are looking to make monumentally positive impacts on their neighborhood, our country, and the world.
My Project
The majority of my students do not have access to a printer at home and the few who are able to use the local library don't have access to quality, color, or picture printing.
As we are a project-based learning program, the inability to print student projects in color hinders students' ability to truly demonstrate what they have learned in its full splendor.
Our students at our middle school have expressed their dismay at our school's lack of technology. Throughout our Performing Arts Magnet and Marine Science Academy, student-centered research projects need technology like this to allow for the student's individual artistic and imaginative abilities to further develop and shine in full color. Most importantly, having an accessible color printer will allow our students to feel proud of their academic work.
