Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our school is considered a Title I school by the US Department of Education. Title I schools are schools with a large percentage of low-income student population. We proudly serve approximately 900 students from pre-kinder through fifth grade with approximately ten percent of our population coded as military.
The Library Media Center serves the entire student population in addition to parents, teachers, and community members by providing a wide range of resources that support teaching and learning.
During the 2015 – 2016 school year, our school circulated approximately 26,000 books. Our students are immersed in learning and enjoy visiting the library.
My Project
The library plays a fundamental role in the education of children. Libraries offers a wealth of print and digital educational resources. Many of these resources are utilized by students for research and school projects.
During their time in the library, students are either engaged in a lesson, reading a book, researching a topic, or working on a project.
Access to a printer enables students to print electronic resources. In addition, it allows students to print their assignments and projects that demonstrate their acquired knowledge. This tangible means of showcasing their accomplishment helps foster the desire to succeed in other students as well.
