Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My amazing 3rd graders attend a large public elementary school in the South Bronx, where nearly all students come from low-income households.
My bilingual classroom is comprised of Spanish speaking students at a beginning level of English speaking proficiency.
They come from many different Spanish speaking countries including the Dominican Republic, Mexico, Honduras, Puerto Rico, El Salvador, and Peru. They step into my classroom every day eager to learn and willing to work hard. As their teacher, I want to provide them with the tools, opportunities, and experiences that they need to be successful in life.
My Project
Throughout this school year, we have worked hard to get enough technology in my classroom for my students to be able to effectively use it on a daily basis. Now that we have a computer, many times we have to send their work to the office to be printed and most of the time we are not allowed to print them.
Many times we have wished that we had a printer in our classroom.
My students have little or no access to a printer at home. This gets in the way of them being fully prepared for the lesson and school day. By having a printer in our classroom, the students would be able to have their research and homework immediately rather than waiting until it can be printed in the office.
