Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am always in admiration of the perseverance and grit I see in my students and their families. I am so lucky to work with kids whose parents support and value education in the ways that they can. Our school is a Title I school, and the majority of my students are in the free or reduced-price lunch program. Many of our students are second language learners and struggle academically. Many of our students reside in homeless shelters and foster homes. Most of them also do not have books, technology, or art supplies at home.
My students should have the same access to supplies that students in more affluent areas have.
My goal each year is to create an eagerness, excitement, and high engagement around learning and help each of them build a true love of learning to keep them motivated in school throughout the years. For many of the families, these children may be the first in their family to graduate from high school, and because of this, it is my goal to create a fun, dynamic, exciting classroom that is designed to keep kids interested in learning and curious about the world around them.
My Project
My students need a color printer/scanner and ink to print various classroom projects, essays, and assignments. Our previous printer no longer works and currently students have to email their work to me, I send to the office printer, and then have to cross campus to pick up printed projects. Students need a color printer with a scanner to copy and print important materials.
A color printer with a scanner will provide my students with the means to upload and use documents that are currently not in digital formats and to create 21st century quality projects right within the classroom.
The ink will allow my students to continue to have a working printer and the laminating pouches will add that finishing touch. These materials will allow my classroom to be a working tech hub of the learning and collaboration as well as give my students a sense of excitement about learning.
