This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
The students who are in my classroom live in a very poor area of the inner city. Our school is a Title I school, so all of our students qualify for free lunches. Many of our students come to school with no socks on, because they simply cannot afford them. Keeping these hardships in mind, our students and parents are some of the most wonderful people I have ever worked with.
They are caring and full of life.
For some of my students, I am the only thing that remains constant in their lives. A lot of my students come from shelters or single parent families with lots of siblings. Although my school is a Title I school, I have never felt more loved than I do with the students I teach, or more rewarded.
My Project
Recently our classroom printer stopped working. Since all of the student worksheets our on the computer, there is no way for me to print without using my home printer. Since there is a shortage of technology, and it is almost the end of the year, this is something that unfortunately will go unfixed. With testing right around the corner, it is important that I allow my students to take pre/post assessments for each content area they are being taught. In order to find these records, students must be tested, requiring the use of a printer to get files off the computer to copy.
