This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I have taught middle school for the past 20 years. Middle schoolers are inspiring to me--they are developing their character and being every day. They are constantly taking in experiences and evaluating where they fit into their world. They are curious and engaged...and have an opinion about EVERYTHING, sometimes sassy and sometimes serious. No two days with middle schoolers are ever the same which means my days are exciting and always an adventure.
My students are inquisitive, collaborative, hard-working, diverse, and globally-minded.
Some are newcomers to the United States, some have traveled the globe. They bring their varied experiences to our everyday conversations and interactions--challenging each other and the status quo. They are eager to learn and eager to apply their experiences to their daily interactions.
My Project
Students in my enrichment block have been working on National History Day projects all school year. We have been researching secondary sources, primary sources, and building out annotated bibliographies. In the coming weeks, we will begin to assemble projects.
As we get ready to build projects, students need to print their primary sources in order to assemble them on their exhibit boards.
We do not have printers at school to print these resources. They will also need to print process papers and annotated bibliographies. A printer will alleviate our need!
