My students are a combination of 6th and 7th grade students who receive special education services. Most of my students have learning disabilities specifically in English or Math. I also have several students with emotional disabilities. Students with disabilities have Individualized Education Plans (IEP) in order to ensure that they are receiving an education that is appropriate to their needs.
Being a special education teacher, I work a lot with my student's confidential information.
Now imagine this: you have a child with an IEP. Would you want the world to see their confidential paperwork? Absolutely not! It's nobody's business other than the family and the school.
My school has public printers, that I can access with a private code. Personally, when printing confidential information, I prefer for it to stay as close to me as possible. My school does not have individual printers for teachers, and I am hoping to use the funds from my Donors Choose to help me acquire a printer to ensure that my student's information doesn't get seen by any wandering eyes.
My Project
All of the students in my class have Individualized Education Plans. These plans contain confidential information including the students' type of disabilities, and their areas of need. I chose to have a printer to benefit my students confidential information. The printer will be used by me to ensure the IEPs are going to be printed in an appropriate manner.
My school currently only supplies communal printers.
Although the communal printers will require me to sign in, I would still prefer to have the documents printed in my classroom. This way, the chances of people getting access to viewing these documents is decreased.
Please help me ensure the safety of these documents by allowing me to have a printer in my classroom!
