Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I want my students to be able to use the computer to investigate causes and effects of major changes during the Middle Ages, and write an essay using a word processor discussing their analysis. Our class needs a printer and copy paper to print out their essays. Using computers to write their essays advances their use of technology, engages them in the learning activity and makes them motivated and excited to learn.
I teach seventh grade World History to 125 students. Our school is in an urban area of Los Angeles and is a 99 percent below poverty level school serving a Latino population of second language learners.
What a great way for students to develop communication skills through writing and seeing their work in print. Our classes would benefit greatly from having a printer in the classroom and copy paper. However, since our school has very limited funding, we do not have a printer and teachers are very limited on the amount of paper they can use for instruction and obtaining copy paper for student essays is non-existent.
One printer and one case of copy paper for printing student essays would serve 125 students, and serve us to produce student work. My students would be so excited to see their published work on display and I truly believe this will motivate them to want to learn more.
