This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

In a world full of tragedy and violence, our 3 year old students enter our classroom wise beyond their years. Despite living in one of the toughest neighborhoods in southeast Washington, DC, their vibrant personalities almost make you forget about the sounds of gunshots and police sirens on the other side of the door.

They're soaring to success every day and enjoy learning new things; almost as much as we enjoy teaching them!

They love hands-on activities and being very active!

My Project

This year the Early Childhood program in our school began a new curriculum - "Creative Curriculum". Within this curriculum, students are asked to complete desktop publishing activities, as well as to create their own books through pictures and dictated sentences. They are using their creativity to become young writers and to express their ideas though language!

Having a printer at their disposal will allow them to find, print, and use pictures that communicate the stories they imagine.

Pictures will help them share these stories independently without being able to read the words. We are excited to give our students the opportunity to engage with literacy through technology, and providing them with more tools to help them succeed!
