My students need a color printer in the classroom so that they can print pictures they need for projects and print out their work for finished projects.
My classroom is full of energetic fifth graders who really do have a passion for learning. My students come from low income homes but you would never know it. They believe they are the best and I, as their teacher, do everything I can to support this feeling.
My students are creative, smart fifth graders who really do get involved in their learning.
They live in Philadelphia and attend a school where free breakfast and lunch is offered every day. Many students do not have enough money for school supplies and depend on the school to provide for their educational needs. My students have a love for learning. They question everything and always want to know more.
My Project
In my classroom, my students are researching topics such as the Amazon Rain Forest, Isaac Newton, and the settlement of Jamestown. They are working hard on their research projects and for the first time are typing good copies of writing pieces on computers. In my classroom, we have three desktop computers and the availability of a laptop cart filled with Chromebooks that can come to our classroom three days a week. However, we have no printer in our classroom for the students to print their work out. If we need to print something, it must be sent to my personal computer and I print it out at home.
We need a printer in our classroom so that my students can print out their own work.
Part of the writing process in this 21st century age is the finished product which includes printing. When students get to the good copy, we now type the good copy, giving them the ability to understand the complete process of writing, editing, and now printing. By having a printer in our classroom, students can really use technology in the class. If they need something from the internet, they can print it right away from our classroom and not wait for the teacher to print it out at home, or print it from another place in the building.
