This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

According to the CDC, 1 in 88 children is diagnosed with autism spectrum disorders. These children have the potential to learn and be productive citizens if given the appropriate foundation.

I have five wonderful students diagnosed with ASD.

My students are in the 1st and 2nd grade and their cognitive abilities range depending on the individual student. They are eager to learn, and if given the right tools they will intellectually prosper.

My Project

I am requesting an iPad 2 and I will secure applications that will enhance each student's individual learning potential based on the specifics of their disability. I plan to include applications that assist with "WH" questions, which are a concern for students with autism. I will use applications that assist with social cues, which is another concern for children with autism.

My students have the potential to function normally in the everyday world, and they can do this if given the appropriate tools to teach them based on the specifics of their disability.
