I am the school nurse and garden coordinator for a public Montessori elementary school. We have 3 primary classrooms which consist of 3-k, 4-k, and kindergarten students. Our Primary students love hands-on and engaging work.
Our young learners especially love their time outside in the garden.
I want to make sure they have everything they need to care for and fully enjoy their garden space.
My Project
Our Primary students enjoy being in their garden. Currently our Primary garden only has enough seating for half of a class. We would like more picnic tables so that every student has space to sit and work in the garden. The storage shed we requested will make tools easier to access so that our children can be more independent and take responsibility for their garden supplies.
Our Primary garden is a beautiful space, and with new seating, a storage shed, and tools, our young learners will be able to fully utilize the garden.
Time outdoors and gardening are so important for young children. In their garden they will be able to connect with nature, grow and eat healthy food, and have hands on and engaging science lessons.
