Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are bright, intelligent, and deserving little humans. They are curious, respectful, and determined. They make each of my days at work even more special than the day before. Seeing their smiles makes me smile and warms my heart. I am excited to come to work to see what adventure we will embark on for the day. Each day the journey is amazing and fruitful. I am blessed beyond measure to work with the wonderful students at my school. However, we are a uniform school, which means students may have limited access to clean clothing during the week. Many of my students do not have laundry facilities in their home or regular access to laundry supplies. This can be an issue because Pride in oneself begins with cleanliness.
My Project
My children, as I mentioned earlier, are amazing little humans. We are uniform school, and we have to enforce the district dress code policies. This means many of our low income families have limited resources when it comes to keeping the district required uniform clean on a daily basis. The students I work with would benefit from the Tide laundry detergent, Bounce dryer sheets, and Clorox bleach by allowing us to continue the use of the schools laundry facilities by students and their families. We have had the opportunity to help our students and their families by offering a Washing machine and Dryer for them to use as needed. Stocking our current laundry room with these supplies would completely defray the cost and remove limits we have had to place on usage due to the cost of Tide, Bounce, and Clorox. Having laundry facilities or supplies on hand is something most of us take for granted, but it is something my students may not have access to all the time. These Tide, Bounce, and Clorox would directly support my students who are having issues with keeping their uniforms clean on a daily basis, and allow them to focus on their education.
