Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students [kindergarten to fifth grade] bring with them diverse ethnic, cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds to our public elementary school.
My students’ diverse backgrounds bring an enriched and creative classroom experience that is unmeasurable.
However, lack of funds can stifle what is possible in the art room. My teaching philosophy has always emphasized that everyone can make art, no matter ability, skill-or even funds.
My students are our future, giving them equal access to materials fosters my students' creativity and achievement in and out of the art room.

My Project
I have recently transferred to a new school and I am eager to give my new artists quality items to ensure they have a successful year in art. The two items painting paper and a paper cutter are integral tools in the art room.
I am constantly displaying the students' works of art throughout the school and online.
However, without a quality paper cutter students' art can often times look tattered and doesn't exemplify the effort that they have put forth in their art making. EVERY art room needs a quality paper cutter to fully illustrate and honor the craftsmanship my little artists have taken in their artwork.
Within that same vein, quality paper is a necessary tool for the art room. I want to be able to give my students the best resources available to make them life long artists- I cannot do that with low quality, non painting paper. When students receive materials that doesn't fit their needs they often become frustrated and disappointed in their work, but when those materials match their needs, they are able to be successful artists in the classroom.
Please help ensure that my new wonderful artists are able to get the tools needed to be successful in the art room.
