My students need 15 copies of Pinkalicious for an interactive shared reading experience during our Literacy time.
This project expired on February 28, 2011.
Hooray! This project is fully funded
Have you ever imagined yourself as a book character? All little girls can relate to Pinkalicious in this humorous, yet inspirational picture book about a little girl who LOVES ALL things (you guessed it!) --PINK!
I have the most amazing, creative, and talented group of 6-year old girls!
My girls come from a variety of backgrounds from supportive two-parent households to a recently widowed mother who lost her father from a sudden heart attack. Our school is multi-cultural, which is an awesome experience for EVERYONE as this is our everyday true representation of the world. Despite all of the challenges these girls face, they all have the desire and love for learning and reading. All little girls dream to be Princesses and that's exactly what Pinkalicious is. We would all like to be a Princess like Pinkalicious for a day.
Hello Giving Hearts.
My goal for our shared reading experience with the story Pinkalicious is for the girls to come to school in their prettiest pink outfits. I will invite their mothers/grandmothers to join us in this special event. I plan to provide pink cupcakes, pink cotton candy, tiaras, and a "magical" wand for each student. I will read the story out loud. In the end, we'll have an "Oprah" moment where we'll surprise the girls with their very own copies of Pinkalicious. This experience will enable to girls to enjoy the moment with their mothers, and also they will leave knowing that it's okay to be who you are. Everyone is special and unique, just like Pinkalicious.
I hope for this experience to make a lasting impact in each child's life in knowing that they are IMPORTANT.
They are VALUED. They are UNIQUE. I believe all girls wish to be Princesses and Pinkalicious is exactly that. For one day, we all can enjoy this role. I love bringing literature to life! I want to share what I love with my students, and with your donation, we'll be that much closer to making this experience unforgettable!
