This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students all have severe/profound disabilities. They can all learn in their own unique way. But all of my students depend on myself and my paraprofessionals to help them be successful throughout the day. Our school is a Title I school so not only do my students have specific educational needs but also personal family needs.

Each of my students has their own unique personality.

They are eager to learn and love coming to school. They are all funny, spontaneous, and adorable!

My Project

It is essential that all students have the opportunity to engage in various pretend type play activities. Having a small kitchen area in my classroom along with pretend food and dishes will give my students the opportunity to engage in the important activity of pretend play.

Students learn critical skills while engaging in pretend play.

These skills will help them become more independent. Pretend play also increases their language and vocabulary as they play. In addition, this is a wonderful way for students to engage with their peers and increase their social interactions as well as teaching them specific skills such as sharing.
