Every day I am blessed to work with 21 amazing four-year-olds that come into my classroom eager to learn. My students are considered "at risk." They come to school needing structure, fun, and love. Every day, we are busy learning through small groups and interacting in centers.
My kids are low income, rural children who were tested and determined to be at-risk by the school district.
In my district, there are six child development centers that focus on meeting the needs of the at-risk children.
My Project
The dramatic play (home living) center is a popular center in my classroom. My students use this center to learn social, writing, and mathematical skills. Creative play helps my students use social skills we are learning in the classroom.
Studies have shown that play is a very important part of a child's development.
Through play, children learn to get along, solve problems, and use their imagination.
A new kitchen set, play food, vet center, and community helper costumes are what our dramatic play center needs so my students can develop. Students are able to discover new things through their imagination.
