Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
The two schools I serve are Title I schools in a large, urban district. My students, who range from preschool to fifth grade, receive special education services and present with a range of disabilities including learning disabilities, Down syndrome, autism spectrum disorder, language impairments, articulation and phonological disorders, pragmatic deficits, and fluency disorders. These students struggle to communicate effectively with their teachers and peers in the school setting.
Despite the difficulties they face, both in and out of the classroom, my students are kind, funny, and motivated kids.
My Project
An Individualized Education Program is a plan specifically designed for each student with a disability to address his or her unique needs.
The Individualized Education Program allows teachers, parents, and related services personnel to work together to improve educational results for children with disabilities.
Because IEPs are tailored and individualized to each student, they tend to be very long documents, requiring a lot of ink to print! These resources will allow me to print the necessary documentation for meetings and provide parents with copies of their child's IEP. The file organizer will assist me in keeping organized, allowing me to separate files into three categories: children who have been referred, children who are being evaluated, and children whose files are ready for the IEP meeting.
