This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Many of my students are refugees who come from all over the globe to seek a better life. For many, this is their first formal experience with school and the English language. They face many obstacles, but they have a love of learning. Smiles light up their faces as they enter school each day. School is a place where they can learn their new language and mix with peers with diverse backgrounds. They are eager learners and tackle each task with confidence.
My Project
My students spend a lot of time working with materials that are printed from digital sources. By the end of the year those materials are ripped or wrinkly and not appealing. These materials will allow us to print our materials on cardstock which is heavier than paper and then laminate our work. Laminating our materials will help to preserve those materials. They will last the entire year without getting wrinkled or torn. The colored cardstock will keep things bright and engaging. The laminator is sure to get a lot of use, as we laminate our finished projects in the pouches to go in portfolios.
