I am a first year teacher at a low income school in Brooklyn, NY. I have 18 3rd Grade students and all of them produce amazing work! It would be really great to make their work last longer than it does. We frequently put up work on the bulletin boards, but they easily tear off, get dirty, and crumble, which makes the kids very upset when their work is destroyed. By laminating the students' work, their work can be displayed and remain a memento for them a lot longer! This is true not only for the students' work, but also for other materials that we have displayed in our classroom. The class rules chart, the library card pockets, the reading group lists- all of these have to be replaced on regular basis because they get battered by the classroom life of walking past them, leaning on the walls, using them, and touching them all the time. Our school provides a laminator, but all the teachers are responsible for providing their own laminating supplies. I tried using the laminating contact paper, which is really difficult to use and peels off very quickly. The things that get laminated through the machine last a lot longer! A supply of laminating materials would really help out a lot! My students are very proud of their work and so am I. So help us keep the wonderful work we do for a long time to come.
