My Students

The students at my school attend a magnet school for gifted and high-achieving students from throughout our district. They truly represent all races, religions, and economic levels and backgrounds.

They are advanced Talent Art students who learn a variety of subjects through the arts while building their portfolios and exhibiting their art for performance based assessments.

While public opinion is the final assessment in their school and community exhibitions, the students have learned that presentation, a significant part of exhibiting, is the polish or is considered "putting your best foot forward."

My Project

Students have discussed character, character of thought and how people judge each other in many class discussions pertaining to how we look or behave in today's society. They are keenly aware that being successful is not just one thing always.

When reviewing art in history, for example, students are noting how art is presented as an aesthetic, or thing of beauty, even if it is ordinary, mechanical or abstract.

And all agree that it is how the piece is presented to view that gives the piece validity or success.

Now aware of their art being presented as something of worth, I would like to provide them with frames to display their artwork in a more polished presentation - both at our school and in the community.
