Help me give my students the resources needed to create organized portfolios to keep track of their assessments and use the data collected to meet their needs in classroom instruction.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
As a teacher in a low-income/high poverty school district, my students are enrolled in the Head Start program based on their families' financial needs. They are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. Despite the many challenges they face, I strive to provide my students with creative and meaningful learning experiences.
My students are naturally loving, happy, energetic and curious about the world around them.
They love to move, sing, dance and be creative with toys and materials. They work hard to please their families and teachers and form trusting relationships with everyone around them.
All of my students receive free preschool including breakfast, lunch and snack. Many of them are raised in single parent households and have no prior school setting experiences. There are many hardships they face at a young age relating to their socioeconomic status and environment in which they are raised.
My goal is to provide them with a foundation of love and trust. I want them to have a positive school experience in order to create lifelong learners and to guide them to become productive citizens for our community.
My Project
It becomes more and more difficult to make preschool classroom fun and appealing for our young learners. Tests and assessments become overwhelming but the pressure cannot interfere with our learning.
Donating to our project will give us the materials we need to keep portfolios for every child and create colorful and creative visuals to use during assessments.
The printer will be used to create assessments and portfolio components that are essential to meet the needs of the curriculum. Each child will receive a personalized binder with pages that are easily accessible for them and their parents to navigate.
We will use the printer, paper, glue and laminating sheets to create learning centers that are visually appealing and interactive for the classroom.
