My students need great alternative ways to expend physical energy. These Gonge Riverstones and Hilltops will allow us to burn energy and increase physical development in age-appropriate ways.
We provide FREE preschool to at-risk students. Our classroom is a 4 year old Great Start Readiness Program preschool. We are a state funded free preschool program for students that are considered at-risk due to a multitude of factors. Some students come to us as a result of low income, traumatic experiences, challenging behavior, separation from their parents, or many other factors. GSRP serves the community with low teacher-student ratio, 16:2, to provide the best education possible to the students enrolled.
As a state funded program, the budget for additional supplies, field trips, and additional educational experiences is very small.
My Project
Moving in physical ways allows students' brains to refocus and stay on task. Especially in preschool, students are able to learn and focus better when given the chance to burn their extra energy. In our preschool classroom, we offer many opportunities for moving, like spending time on the playground. However, living in Michigan, often the opportunity to get students outside can be limited due to the weather conditions. We do our best to find alternative activities to keep them moving, and these Gonge Riverstones, Hilltops, and River will allow students to burn more energy and develop gross motor skills in appropriate ways.
Many of our preschoolers have a high energy level and need to be given appropriate, safe options to express their energy.
