My students need a laptop and 2 iPads to further their language learning. We will use these for individual lessons, small and whole group language activities.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Have you ever been in a foreign country trying to make yourself understood? My preschoolers (3 and 4 year olds) came to me with limited or no vocabulary or speech. They learn to talk first in single words and then in full sentences.
We are in a General Education elementary school.
There are 5 special education classes within the 27 classes at our school. Because we are in an area that has middle income families, our school does not qualify for any categorical funding (Bilingual, Title I etc.). I have an Aphasia/Severe Disorders of Language class with 3-4 year olds. I average at least 12 students.
My Project
Today's children learn by interacting with their environment and people. By using the laptop and the iPads with both the teacher and the assistant, the children will interact with the programs and learn more language as well as the academics. The programs are bright and colorful. This will keep them interested and focused on learning. There are programs that show one-to-one correspondence in counting. There are also programs that engage the student to print the letters correctly. All of this is done with ease and excitement because of the colors and cause/effect sounds of the program. My assistant and I can take very small groups or an individual child to work on academics or expressive vocabulary. The laptop allows us to go to preschool websites that will teach academics that hopefully parents can continue at home.
I would like my students to attend kindergarten in General Education classrooms.
They need to have vivid and rigorous vocabularies as well as on task academics. I want them to begin kindergarten in the strong middle group in the class. These children began years behind their peers. These materials will give me the tools to teach them so they can succeed as they start kindergarten and their elementary school careers.
