Help me give my students blocks and building materials, simple machines, and magnets to provide a step into the work of STEM from a child's limitless imaginative perspective.
I currently have 17 students in my public preschool classroom. We are in a high poverty school district. Most are from single-parent/ zero income households or being raised by their grandparents.
My students come to school each day with smiles on their faces and eager to learn.
They love being engaged using hands-on open-ended materials.
I am always looking for free or inexpensive resources online. Being able to provide students with extra resources to help educate and engage them would be wonderful. My students and I would appreciate any donations!
My Project
STEM is much more than an acronym for science, technology, engineering and math. It's about teaching children inquiry based learning so that they know how to ask the right questions and how to answer them authentically.
By providing hands-on experiences with open-ended materials that incorporate STEM components, children become prepared for the world in which they live.
It's about building upon children's natural curiosity and sense of wonder. It's teaching them to explore alternate thoughts and ideas. These new materials will provide them with critical thinking skills and problem solving opportunities. Providing them with blocks and building materials, simple machines and magnets will support lifelong STEM learning.
