My students are pre-kindergarten students who meet the state requirements and are labeled as being "at risk" of not succeeding, thus they are placed in the program to help them succeed. They are four years of age and live in a medium-large city.
My children love to explore, experiment, build, and create, and I am eager to expand resources in my classroom.
My classroom is beautiful and has many materials. I have increased my STEM/STEAM resources a great deal in the last few years, and enjoy using these materials with my students.
My school follows the "Nurtured Heart" philosophy, where we work to find the greatness in each child. In my classroom, I try to make each child comfortable and part of our school family.
My Project
This year I have been trying to incorporate STEAM activities into every week. Ozobots and accessories would make a great addition to our program because we can use them in many different ways. They can help us practice fine motor skills, learn how to problem solve, observe, record, and experiment, and have fun while learning.
Ozobots will introduce my students to experimental thinking, logical reasoning, and coding.
These are important skills in our technology-filled world.
Ozobots are great for preschoolers because of the color coding system, which means they can learn coding without reading. I will use the robots in small groups and while working in areas. I am asking for a classroom set so that every child can have one when we work in groups. Students will not only work individually with their robot but also work together to create large maps for the robots to follow. I look forward to the many great skills we can gain from this addition to our classroom!
