Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students live inside the city. These children primarily are the children of Hispanic immigrants, and they speak Spanish. Some of the children are bilingual but most of them only speak Spanish.
Some of my students’ families work hard to help them learn but most times when they are busy or at work, the children play on tablets or watch TV.
Because the children spend a lot of time at home doing things with technology and living inside the city, they don’t get the opportunity very often to go outside and explore. We try to provide materials to bridge that gap but we do not have enough. I work with these families in and outside of school to the best of my capabilities.
My Project
With the Hands-on Science and Math book and the Classroom Science Set, we will be able to provide them with more hands-on activities and they will be able to do science experiments inside and outside of the classroom. It provides the children with the opportunity to learn about temperatures and begin learning basic mathematics. When doing some of the experiments they will need goggles.
The Hands-on Science and Math book will help us go beyond helping them in just math and science.
It will allow us to help them with developing their fine motor, cognitive and investigative skills. Starting them, earlier with learning these things will help their brain grow so they can learn easier through out their life.
