This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

"Old MacDonald had a farm, E-I-E-I-O!" Do you remember who taught you this children's song? This year, we'll be learning about this song and are going to see a puppet show featuring Old MacDonald.

Preschool at DC Prep-Benning consists of four different classes, which are named after local universities.

George Mason University preschoolers get really excited about playing in Dramatic Play. Preschoolers in Gallaudet loves to sing any song, especially "Popcorn on a Train." At Catholic University, our children love to express themselves during art and writing. Finally, the preschoolers in American University loves to share out what their weekends are by singing "The Friday Song."

My Project

Funding for this project will pay for buses that will take us to and from the puppet theatre. At this time of the year, we'll be learning about fairy tales, characters, and setting. We're going to see a showing of "Old MacDonald." This puppet show will bring to life the farmer we've been singing about, and teach us about a different medium of storytelling.

This will be many of our students' first puppet show, and we are excited to expand their horizons and experiences.

Our preschoolers are excited to learn, are very expressive, and are curious about the world around them. This will introduce them to a new type of art that many have never been exposed to in person before. Seeing "Old MacDonald" will bring a popular song to life for our preschoolers.
