The School for the Deaf serves students in grades kindergarten through 12th grade. We have not had a preschool since 1998. Recent legislation has allowed us to reestablish a preschool program to serve our population of students. These students will have early exposure to language and be able to successfully communicate with their families and friends.
We will be starting a Preschool for deaf/hard of hearing students.
The skills acquired in preschool will enable these students to build a solid foundation and be academically prepared.
Currently we only have a small playhouse for our preschool playground. We do not have any other equipment for the preschoolers to play on. This playground set with a slide, two swings, a seesaw, a ladder to climb, basketball goal, and a treetop house will encourage the preschoolers to use their gross motor skills. The preschoolers will also gain social skills and learn how to share with one another by taking turns on the swings, climbing the structure, using the seesaw, sliding down the slide, and playing basketball. Please consider our deaf/hard-of-hearing preschoolers having a wonderful area to play and grow.
