Our pre-school program is made up of three integrated preschool classrooms and one direct instruction classroom. We utilize developmentally appropriate play-based philosophies to enrich positive peer interaction and student growth. I service 65 - 70 preschool students, addressing their individual learning styles and needs appropriately. Many of our students were in the process of learning to utilize language functionally through play and preschool curriculum. While our students had access to developmentally appropriate toys and materials to explore the world around them while at school, many no longer have access to items to participate with teachers and therapists during video sessions or with their families for carryover.
My Project
These activities and items will be used to target language skills such as categorizing, describing, associating, sentence expansion and so much more. My students learn best through the use of visuals and tactile materials. These materials can be safely used during small group sessions, sanitized and used again for other students. They will offer me the ability to show students items along with their labels, which will allow students to make connections and expand their language knowledge and functional use. Students will be allowed to categorize small manipulative a while working on language goals.
