Preschool Graduation: Celebrating Student Success and Parental Involvement
My students need preschool graduation books, thank you cards, decorations, gift bags, a smoothie recipe book, Ninja blender, and plenty of film and photo props to promote positive attitudes and increased parental involvement in education.
What I love most about my students is their positive and enthusiastic approach towards learning in our diverse classroom environment. They have worked hard this year developing kindergarten readiness skills, and have reason to celebrate. Before I send them off to kindergarten it's time to celebrate the completion of preschool and provide an opportunity for parents to come together in support of their child's academic achievements.
According to The Michigan Department of Education: "research consistently shows that children with involved parents tend to do better in school, stay out of trouble, and become more likely to go on to higher education."
With your support, I can do my part to encourage parental involvement and future success to all of my students and their families.
My Project
The preschool decorations will create a festive and celebratory environment, displayed amongst student work. The decorations and student samples will provide opportunities for parents and teachers to discuss student work, development, strengths, challenges, and developmentally appropriate methods and resources to support students where they are, so that they get to where they need to be in the fall.
The Southwest Educational Development Laboratory conducted a study entitled A New Wave of Evidence concluding that "students whose parents were actively involved in their education were more likely to attend school regularly, adapt well to school, possess better social skills, and are more likely to graduate from high school and attend post-secondary school."
Moreover, the requested materials will help me put a positive emphasis on the importance of education and parental involvement from the start, with fun and interactive learning centers located around our preschool courtyard, reflecting the key developmental indicators that we have been working on all year. What's more, these activities will encourage parental involvement with their children and focus on kindergarten readiness skills by creating a dialogue between families regarding educational concepts, including but not limited to healthy choices and the upcoming transition into kindergarten.
Hence forth, the Fugi film and Camera for family pictures, books for shared reading experiences with families, gift bags and thank you cards for students and provide engaging activities and keepsakes for families to commemorate the beginning of their child's educational endeavors. The Ninja Blender, Nutrition Facts and Smoothies and Healthy Eating For Kids books will help us provide healthy smoothies, dips and tips for promote healthy lifestyles and food choices for families.
