Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

The most exciting time in my life was when I would sit on our piano bench to read to my mother. I did not talk until I was four. So being able to read to her at the age of six was just remarkable. My favorite book was "Green Eggs and Ham." This was our time of day.

My students are the children of the storm.

They have now studied in various places and they have wonderful stories to share. We are a very nurturing school and they love it. We are located in New Orleans, Louisiana.

My Project

The eggsperts are timers that will allow my students to compete while preparing for a very important test, LEAP. This test will determine whether my students pass or fail. I simply make up practice questions for the students to compete. Since my students are so active, it is important that they use manipulatives while learning. It really does make a difference.

In the past, my students have done very well.

However, this year I have been challenged to work with a very special class of young men who are very active and a few grade levels below. I really do believe that if I receive these eggsperts, it will allow my students to at least
