Preparing our Young Men for the Future!

My students need 1 high quality printer to prepare sample resumes and college applications and essays as part of a program that will address social issues that many young men face, as well as prepare them for situations that will encounter in the future such as going on job interviews and the college application process.

I teach 8th grade math at a middle school in a high-need community. Many of our students are not exposed or aware of certain aspects of life that will be vital to their future.

As with many of the young men in our school, and then neighborhood in which I serve, they do not have a platform to discuss some of the issues that plague them, nor do they have the opportunity to gain the resources and information that will help them become successful citizens in the future.

In an effort to reach out to the young men in our school, we have created a group called "Gentlemen who Dine" which is a selected group of young men from our 6th, 7th and 8th grade that will meet bi-weekly over lunch with the male staff members and other invited guests, to discuss major issues that affect our young men, such as gang violence, education, responsibility, etc. In addition to discussing these topics, we will also introduce these young men to resume writing, and begin to show them how to research colleges and practice writing college application essays. With the number of students that we will serve, we will need a high quality printer to handle the volume of usage it will endure.

Your help will ensure that our young men will begin to take the steps needed to ensuring that they will have a bright, successful and productive future.
