Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach Pre-K at a Title I school. I have students who have various educational and cultural backgrounds, which creates a diverse classroom community. I love each of them for what they bring to our family and I want to foster their unique talents.

This quote describes my students perfectly because they need me to use differentiated instruction to meet their various needs. They are awesome kids and I want to provide them with the tools to be successful in school and in life!
Our world is changing so quickly. I am attempting to prepare scholars for jobs that haven't even been thought of yet. STEM provides students the opportunity to work through the creative process and to learn the value of rethinking and supporting multiple solutions.
My Project
The Botley Coding Robot and Mouse Code and Go will teach my students to code in an easy, friendly way. Even at 4 years old the students will be introduced to computer coding and able to create their own computer codes. PicassoTiles, Tinkertoys and other building activities create opportunities for team building, learning new vocabulary and expanding engineering skills. The brick building table will allow students to preserve their work from one day to the next, to expand on ideas and to see that work and creative can be added to and changed from day to day. Currently, all creations must be disassembled each time we clean up and students start completely over the next day. What an amazing opportunity to show students that we don't have to complete everything at one sitting, sometimes stepping away from a project and returning fresh allows us to see things from a new perspective.
By using critical thinking, communication, and collaboration to build or make strategic decisions, students prepare for essential skills of the 21st century.
Centered around project-based learning, an effective STEM classroom fosters a positive culture that allows students to problem-solve, collaborate, create, test ideas, and build with their hands. The goal of stem classroom design is to inspire students to think, innovate, prototype, and research in teams. The interaction with cutting-edge technology and hands-on creative materials will increase their real world knowledge as well as their desire to learn and be creative!
